D.C. is home to some of the most well-heeled neighborhood’s in the country. But do you know where to find its most expensive piece of real estate? Maybe a Diplomat’s home in Kalorama? An Historic townhouse in Georgetown? How about a mansion in Spring Valley?

None of the above!

The answer: D.C.’s most expensive house is The White House.

Soon after the current President was sworn into office, Zillow, the real estate and rental website, estimated that 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue was worth approximately $400 million. That places it squarely as not only the most valuable home in D.C., but the most valuable in the country.

So what does $400 million get you? A 55,000 square foot sandstone structure built on 18 acres of federal land. One hundred thirty two rooms in all, 32 bathrooms, 412 doors, 147 windows, 28 fireplaces, 8 staircases, and 3 elevators.
